Win A Free Sling!
I’m joining in the fun Bloggy Giveaway here at The Attached Mother. For the week of April 21 -25 hundreds of bloggers are joining together to give away great prizes. There are so many fun things being given away it will be hard to get through them all.
OK, so I’m sure you want to get to the chase right? As the title says I’m giving away a brand new ring sing of your choice to one lucky person here this week. The slings are handmade with loving care by Flutterby Gifts. There are several cute slings available right now for your browsing pleasure. Just check out the slings page here to see what is available. Ring slings are perfect for new moms. They are easy to put on and take off, easy to adjust, and cradle a baby much like the womb did. When mine were little I adored having a ring sling to wear.
Here is what you have to do if you want to win a new ring sling. Leave a comment on this post between April 21 and 25 sharing a happy slinging memory. Maybe it’s finally figuring out how to wear your sling, or carrying your sleeping baby, or even just meeting someone who didn’t ask you if you were smothering your baby in the sling. What ever happy moment you want to share please do.
If you haven’t used a sling yet and don’t have any happy moments just share one that you might look forward to having. Even if you are hoping to win for someone else, what do you think they might enjoy about using a sling? Let’s share the happiness and make each other smile!
Then come back on April 26 when I’ll announce the winner. One comment will be chosen at random to win a sling of their choice from the sling section at Flutterby Gifts. And while you’re there be sure to check out the other goodies for sale. The soaps and lotions are to die for, I can personally attest to that.

Oh yay! I guess it would be pretty cheesy to say every babywearing moment is a happy one for me, huh? Well, to be mor specific - the happiest babywearing moment I have had is the first time I was able to wear my oldest daughter on my back in public. I got her up there and back out again without dropping her and that was a big day for me as prior to that, I only wore her on my back around the house. Gosh, that was a long time ago. Now the baby is on my back in a carrier most everytime we are out of the house!
Great giveaway. It looks like I am the first commenter and so I feel sure I won’t win, but I am glad I found you today!

I never figured out the sling that I had when my first two daughters were small - but I’ve since realized that it was the sling, not me that was the problem. My youngest is getting heavy but still wants to be carried all the time, so I’d love to win this to help carry her on my hip when we’re out and about!
April 21st, 2008 at 8:16 am
i’ve never had a sling so i would love to win. i have two tots and a 4 month old so i caould really use this.
April 21st, 2008 at 8:47 am
I would love a ring sling; my pouch is getting less comfy for my baby and 2-yr. old. Thanks!
April 21st, 2008 at 9:03 am
my baby girl loves to be cuddled and falls asleep instantly - the black sling would be perfect for us!
April 21st, 2008 at 9:24 am
I love`wearing my baby! A moment: Breastfeeding her in a RS for the first time in a bathroom at a LOUD concert!
April 21st, 2008 at 9:32 am
I have not worn her in a sling yet so I don’t have a sling moment, but my favorite babywearing moment is every time my husband wears our daughter. It just melts my heart to see her snuggled up with him and to see the love in his eyes.
April 21st, 2008 at 9:51 am
As I am having my first child in May, I would love to have one of these. I think the importance of closeness in Mother Child bonding together is so important!
April 21st, 2008 at 9:55 am
I never knew about slings early enough with #1, but baby #2 is on his/her way this September! I loved the soft carrier someone made for me during my son’s first year, and loved having the option of hands free snuggling!
April 21st, 2008 at 10:16 am
Great giveaway! I am 8 months pregnant with my first child and I am very much looking forward to babywearing. I know that it will help us bond and that a baby sling will be great since I plan on breastfeeding.
April 21st, 2008 at 10:17 am
I didn’t find out about slings until my children were too old to use one. I did, however, have a friend with a toddler who used one all of the time. It was great to see her walk hands-free around the store, while her toddler was snuggled against her hip.
April 21st, 2008 at 10:24 am
My son was born with a hole in his heart, and we had been gifted a wonderful WAHM ring sling on his birth. He had a hard time sleeping unless he was in his sling, and it gave my husband the opportunity to get a little heart to heart time with ds (while giving me a break, too) and he still counts his slinging time a cherished memory. I miss my sling, and would love to keep my toddler in one, but I gave mine to a needy family and I just never got another. I miss it.
April 21st, 2008 at 10:32 am
Oh my goodness! What a wonderful giveaway. I would love a ring-sling. I had one with my first baby, but it was made of thick-ish cloth and wasn’t very comfortable for either of us. He loved his Moby Wrap, and now I still pop him in the Ergo for trips to the library and things (he is a big-ish 20 months, so we don’t use it too often!)
Thanks!
April 21st, 2008 at 10:32 am
Sounds great!
April 21st, 2008 at 10:34 am
I havent used a sling but I am looking forward to having one for my next (2nd) baby. I think it will be a great way to stay connected to the baby and also have hands free.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:15 am
I am new to slings, but I love how my baby falls right to sleep in it!
April 21st, 2008 at 11:50 am
I want a sling memory so bad but don’t have one yet…I would love to have my 10 months old cuddled to me while I run after my three-year old. Please enter me,
April 21st, 2008 at 12:10 pm
I am 13 weeks pregnant with my first, so no memories yet…but I can’t wait to walk around with my little one nestled where he/she can hear my heartbeat!!
April 21st, 2008 at 12:37 pm
My husband and I are trying to adopt our first…so no memories yet! But I totally want one of these because I really think it will help our adopted baby bond with us!!
April 21st, 2008 at 1:01 pm
I would love to win this. I have been wanting a sling so bad, our budget just can’t bend right now. Thanks for the chance to win!

I loved using a sling with my baby when we were out. It helped keep her happy and also kept strangers hands off her.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:15 pm
Would love to win, i have my first baby on the way
April 21st, 2008 at 1:38 pm
I have a 3 week old and have been trying to get him into the pouch sling I made…so far more tears than smiles, but maybe a ring sling would make him happier. The black one is my favorite.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:39 pm
I would LOVE to win one of these oh so trendy slings!
April 21st, 2008 at 1:49 pm
I always used a sling to carry my friend’s baby around when babysitting. She loved to be near me, and I could still go about doing my regular work!
April 21st, 2008 at 2:02 pm
I am about to have my third baby. I would love one of these. I have read so many great things about the sling. OOOOOO I hope I win!!!
April 21st, 2008 at 2:05 pm
I have two boys and one unknown on the way…I have always wanted a sling but never had one..I would love to have one to carry our new addition around and be a close part of the family
April 21st, 2008 at 2:28 pm
My 2-1/2 yo son is now too heavy for me to sling most of the time, but he has kept his old sling as his lovey. My happy memory thus is he remembers his sling and being carried in it so fondly. The downside is we had to get a new sling for my youngest as he certainly wasn’t giving up his old sling to her.
April 21st, 2008 at 3:33 pm
The first time I used one I had bought it at a garage sale and fumbled about getting it on. One nice lady stopped me at Walmart and taught me how to use it! That was so nice!
April 21st, 2008 at 3:44 pm
[...] I also have two other giveaways going on. Free books for creative, tree hugging kids and a free baby sling for any mama or mama-to-be. [...]

I’m done having babies and couldn’t wear one b/c of my back, but I’d love to win one for my pregnant friend. I know she’ll love wearing her baby and keeping him close all the time - and he’ll love it too. Thanks!
April 21st, 2008 at 3:46 pm
I’m hoping to have a baby to put in a sling!
April 21st, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Please add my name to the hat. I don’t have any children yet, but we are starting to TTC. This would be great.
April 21st, 2008 at 4:11 pm
I don’t have any happy sling moments…yet! I would love to make some though
April 21st, 2008 at 4:18 pm
I’m pregnant with my first baby (due in June), so I THINK that I will just love having my baby close to me, even while doing other things.
April 21st, 2008 at 4:28 pm
I didn’t have a sling for my daughter when she was a baby, but it would have been great for when she wanted to be held, but I needed to get the cleaning or laundry done. I wasn’t sure I could figure out how to use one, though, but I saw a friend’s sling and it didn’t look too hard. : ) She really liked having one for her daughter.

i’m 24… soon to be 25… and have had the desire - since i can remember - to have a family. i am not yet married… although i have an amazing boyfriend!! i have LOVED these slings since i set my eyes on them. i hope to one day be able to cradle my own baby(babies)… the thought actually brings tears to my eyes in hopes that i will never miss my opportunity. it seems like so many people around me are moving forward… having families… i pray that some day i will share in the blessing.
April 21st, 2008 at 7:11 pm
i never used one with #1 or 2. but now that we are thinking of #3 i’m really interested in getting one
April 21st, 2008 at 7:41 pm
I don’t have kids yet, but I definitely will at some point, plus my sister-in-law is pregnant and due in July. I love the idea of a sling. I love that it keeps your little one snuggled up against you while still allowing you to use your hands!
April 21st, 2008 at 7:54 pm
I don’t have any sling memories yet, but I have been in love with the idea of slings since I first saw them. I will love to have one when the time comes to make breast feeding a bit more comfortable and to have use of my hands while holding baby at the same time!
April 21st, 2008 at 8:04 pm
I would love a ring sling for the new baby! What I loved most about carrying my other two in a sling was when they’d fall right asleep, I’d be at the store and people would want to see my baby and would comment on how peaceful they looked in the sling.
April 21st, 2008 at 8:13 pm
I would love a sling. I am adopting! Yah Me!!
April 21st, 2008 at 8:41 pm
I would love to win a sling for my sister who’s expecting!
I’m sure this would definitely ease them bringing the baby when going out. Thank you for the chance!
April 21st, 2008 at 8:50 pm
My best sling moment was the first time I wore my sling and my little girl fell asleep while walking. She was only 4 weeks old! Now this sling is way to small as she’s 10 months old, so I can definitely use a bigger one as I want to have her as close as possible for as long as I can! Thanks for the great giveaway! Good luck to all.
April 21st, 2008 at 9:07 pm
My favorite was wearing my son to a Wiggles concert 2 weeks after he was born so that my daughter could see them. He slept through the whole concert except for a little while to nurse, all in the sling.
I could use a new one for this babe who will emerge next month!
April 21st, 2008 at 9:27 pm
We didn’t start until Connor was older.. but my favorite moment was the moment I was at the post office.. and I realized for the first time that I could have a normal life while carrying my son around.. lol it was defently a “aha” moment!!
I am hosting my own bloggy carnival over at Seven Dogs right now!! Connor’s First Birthday Blog Bash is featuring over $530 in prizes. Come check it out!!

I am a baby carrier addict! I have TONS and would love to have another.
I have so many amazing memories of my little guys in carriers (ring when newborn, moby when a little old and then pouch after mobile). I think my favorite was the reaction I would get from people when my first son would sit in the buddha carry in my Maya Wrap Sling. THat was his favorite! He could see everything that way.
April 21st, 2008 at 9:55 pm
i didn’t have a sling w/ my son, but was always jealous of having both hands free, so i’m looking fwd to that w/ #2
April 21st, 2008 at 10:28 pm
I am expecting my first baby any day now, and would love to win this! Some thing I might look forward to with the sling–having both hands free and still being able to hold my little guy close. Also, I’ve heard they’re handy for discreet nursing, which is cool.
April 21st, 2008 at 10:31 pm
My son is 2 months old and I just started trying different style slings - borrowed from a friend…would love to win a ring sling…I enjoy having my hands free while he’s in the sling sleeping away.
April 21st, 2008 at 10:57 pm
My daughter kind of outgrew my hotsling - this looks like it would fit her a lot better and give me better support (she’s 26 pounds and not walking - ouch!).

I would love to win this for my sister-in-law who is due in August. She’s expecting her second, but it’s been 13 years since her first was born!

I didn’t use a sling with my two kids, and I really wish I had. I’m envious when I see other moms wearing them now! My sister is expecting her first child, and I’d love to have one so I could use it when I babysit her little boy. How handy!!!

I love my sling. I still carry my 6 month old in it and would love a ring type (I just have a New Native). My favorite memory was when he was just 1 week old and we went to the movies. I had him in the sling and a high school boy thought it was the coolest thing. It was funny to have him make such a fuss over it, as usually boys that age could care less about that type of thing.
April 22nd, 2008 at 11:49 am
Mmmm, my favorite slinging moment was when I *finally* got my son to nurse in our ring sling! He was all cozy, and I was able to sit down at the computer desk and return a few emails - I felt *so* accomplished (he was probably 6-8 weeks old at that point). It was great!
April 22nd, 2008 at 12:12 pm
One of my happiest memories is when my son wanted to care for his bear the way I was caring for our baby girls. He wanted to use the sling to carry the bear around and he would sing to the bear and rock the bear and tuck the bear into bed to sleep. It made me happy to know that he was learning to nurture from watching me hold the babies in the sling. So even though I didn’t have a sling when he was a baby it is still benefitting him in an indirect way. Thanks for the chance to win.
April 22nd, 2008 at 12:44 pm
I just loved the feeling of my daughter resting against my chest!
April 22nd, 2008 at 12:52 pm
I have always worn my babies — wit my first 2 I would gest little old lades stopping me and telling me how they wished they had a sling like mine when thiers were little. I can’t wait to sling baby #3 in Aug.
April 22nd, 2008 at 1:19 pm
Those slings look so much more comfortable then the one I tried. Hence I didn’t use one with my first three but I would love to use one with my fourth.
April 22nd, 2008 at 1:52 pm
I love baby wearing. My favorite memory is my husband wearing our first son for the first months of his life, because he wouldn’t let me sling him! He was always wanting to nurse when I held him. But it was sweet to see him with Papa.
April 22nd, 2008 at 2:10 pm
I have not had a sling with my older 2. I would love to try one with my newest baby. I think just holding her close all the time would be a great memory.

I would love to try this sling with my baby that is on the way!
April 22nd, 2008 at 2:21 pm
My friend had a baby not too long ago and I bought her a sling that she wanted. It was so complicated that she could not use it. It was soooo expensive too. When she had the baby in it, she almost fell out.
Please consider us for this sling!

Wish I had known about these with my first one. I’m hoping to find a new way to bond with my next one.
April 22nd, 2008 at 3:04 pm
I’ve never used a sling, but here’s my story–my 16 month old has spina bifida, and doesn’t (might never) walk. He is a serious mama’s boy, too, and I carry him anywhere I don’t want him crawling around (stores, camping, etc). So I’m in serious shopping mode for a sling, especially since he doesn’t grip with his legs and so he’s a (incredibly adorable) dead weight.
April 22nd, 2008 at 5:21 pm
One of my first memories was my husband wearing Lily-Ann when we were still in the hospital. I had a natural birth planned, but ended up having to have an emergency c-section after three DAYS of labor. I was absolutely distraught… and I couldn’t carry (or care for) our new baby because of the huge amount of pain I was in. So my husband wore her. One time we were walking the halls, another new family spotted us and wanted to know all about the sling. It made me feel good to help another new family, even when ours had such a rough start.
April 22nd, 2008 at 6:05 pm
My best memory of slinging is when I spent hours in IKEA with a friend slinging her baby. Everyone commented! Thank you for much for the giveaway. I would love to win this! nw_wife(at)hotmail(dot)com
April 22nd, 2008 at 6:27 pm
I have always wanted a sling! I love having my baby close.
April 22nd, 2008 at 7:42 pm
I have never used a sling but look forward to using one for our little boy due in 5 weeks!!
April 22nd, 2008 at 7:56 pm
I have never used a sling as we adopted our daughter from foster care at age 5. However, my best friend is pregnant and I would LOVE to win this for her!
I have read a lot in attachment regarding adoption how it is good to sling babies. Maybe if we adopt a younger child I would be able to try it.
April 22nd, 2008 at 9:04 pm
I don’t have a sling, but I have a two year old and am working on #2 and think I would like to be able to snuggle with the baby and still have my hands free to play with the toddler! Great site! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
April 22nd, 2008 at 9:43 pm
My happy sling memory was when I first (finally!!!) figured out how to thread it. I think that was the hardest thing for me to wrap my brain around. Not just for newborns either - B is about to be 1 and we still use ours frequently… I would love to have another one!
April 22nd, 2008 at 10:08 pm
My sister is pretty excited about attachment parenting, so I’m sure she’d love to be able to keep her daughter so close to her while mobile.
April 22nd, 2008 at 11:09 pm
I was wearing my daughter at the fair and got three compliments that day from strangers about how cozy she looked in there. Those were the only compliments I got and it was funny that all three were the same day and location!
April 22nd, 2008 at 11:56 pm
I do not own a sling, but have been looking and thinking about them a lot lately. I think I would like to try one sometime. Thanks for the opportunity. I always thought it would be neat to cuddle your baby close to your heart while doing things around the house.
April 23rd, 2008 at 12:37 am
We are baby wearers here! My most distinct memory is mowing the lawn with my 2.5 year old daughter on my back in an Ergo, she is now 5! Wow, time goes so fast!
April 23rd, 2008 at 6:43 am
I’d love to have a new sling for the baby we’re going to start working on.
I think my best memory was when I had my newborn in the sling, and someone asked me when I was due. I just pulled the edge down so she could see the baby’s head, and she was so shocked. It was really funny.
Thanks for the chance!
April 23rd, 2008 at 7:39 am
I was looking forward to baby wearing with my first, but didn’t buy a sling because two people promised to either buy me one or give me their old one…but then didn’t until little man was about 8 months old, at which point we were both too old to learn.
But when baby #2 comes along, I am _DEFINITELY_ looking forward to using a sling. I mean, how else will I get anything done?
April 23rd, 2008 at 10:12 am
I haven’t used a sling… but plan to baby wear with my next child! I’m hoping the little one will sleep well in the sling and that I’ll be able to look after my toddler and get things done around the house while I wear the baby.
April 23rd, 2008 at 10:27 am
I do not have a baby (yet) but I look forward to carrying them close to my heart and feeling them breathe and move against me.
April 23rd, 2008 at 11:15 am
I don’t have a baby, so I don’t have a sling moment, but I look forward to when I will.
April 23rd, 2008 at 11:32 am
I love that baby can continue to be close to my heart…and hear it!
April 23rd, 2008 at 12:06 pm
I do not have kids yet, but my sister in law has a little one. She works during the day, so I know she’d love to be closer to her little guy when she’s home!
April 23rd, 2008 at 12:27 pm
The first time my daughter fell asleep in the sling…precious moment.
April 23rd, 2008 at 12:41 pm
I am preparing to travel to pick up my baby in Liberia. I have never used a sling, but sure look forward to having one in those airports! Great giveaway!
April 23rd, 2008 at 1:30 pm
I don’t have a baby yet, but I really, really want one! And when I do, I’ll want to carry her (him?) close to my heart. I saw some adorable pictures too of little kids carrying around their stuffed animals in slings and some people carrying their small dogs that way! Too cute!
April 23rd, 2008 at 1:56 pm
I don’t have a sling, but would love to use one to keep my baby close to me.
April 23rd, 2008 at 3:55 pm
The only way I can get through a church service is with my sling. My husband is a pastor, and I have a pew full of small children to care for by myself. It doesn’t take them long to figure out that Mom can’t do much whilst holding a newborn. But once New Guy is in the sling, HA HA! I have my hands back!
But I have yet to find a sling that I can nurse in. Would this one work?
Thank you!
April 23rd, 2008 at 4:04 pm
My little sister is pregnant & I think this sling would be perfect for her! She doesnt currently have a car, so will be taking public transit a lot. A sling would be sooo much easier than a stroller for the baby on public transit!
April 23rd, 2008 at 5:40 pm
I have never used a sling, but I have used a snugglie for two babies. Having my hands free to manage the toddlers while the baby sleeps away on my chest is the best.
April 23rd, 2008 at 6:26 pm
I ordered a sling when I was pregnant with my first. I measured myself at about 5 months pregnant, and I couldn’t get the thing around me and my baby for months. I am pregnant with number two now and I am planning on a ring sling so that I can adjust around baby and leftover pregnancy weight. I did love slinging when I finally did, and I am really looking forward to it this time!
April 23rd, 2008 at 7:52 pm
I love all my babywearing moments, but I would have to say the day I first figured out how to comfortably wear a toddler on my back and an infant on my front was one of the happiest–and proudest!
Thanks for the giveaway! =)
April 23rd, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Hmmm… my first sling moment was with my nephew. It was so easy to care for him and five other older children when I had my hands free! Now I have a three week old and would love to have my own sling to make memories with!

When my little one was about 2 mos old, he went thru a spell where I had to hold him all the time. Having him in the sling was the only way I could still do anything. I need another so I can keep one at home and one in the car. Please pick me.

I would love to win this sling. But not to use (as my youngest child is 4)… but to bless my pastor’s wife who is due to deliver in 4 weeks.

I love moments when my baby is so snug and warm against me. I love that I can keep unwanted fingers from touching my babies!
I would love to win this great prize! Thanks for the chance to win!

I have never used a sling but think that they look so comfortable for mom and baby! It would be so nice to have them snuggled up so close! I love the black one! Thanks for the great giveaway!

My favorite sling memory was going on a five mile walk with my 2 year old daughter in my friend’s sling…on a back hold and my 2 month year old on my front nursing. I finished before most people with strollers and my girls could both cuddle with their mommy I have totally given up strollers now! I would love to have a sling to be able to carry both girls in without always borrowing…my two year old whenever I pull out the sling for my infant is always asking to go “up” too. My girls love slings!!!

Baby wearing has gone to new heights! My daughter is expecting anyday now, and we have our eye on a few! Love Winnie, but he’ll be gone (sob) The ‘Sweetheart’ is our fave. Enjoyed visiting your gallery. Wow,…you do a little of everything. Very creative. Enjoyed my visit!

I haven’t used a sling before but I’ve been eyeing them for a while now. It would be wonderful to wear my 10 month old and chase my 4 year old around at the same time.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I am pregnant with our first little one, but when I used a sling while carrying a friends baby… I knew that is what I wanted to do once we had one! It is such a cool feeling!

I used to wear my son around in one of those and its the best! I can’t believe it, but he used to sleep right through me cleaning the house–vaccuuming and all!
I would give this one to my BFF who has a new baby if I won.

I have not used a sling but the moby wrap and I love how content my baby is in. I used it when she was a newborn to a few months and she would instantly go to sleep. Now (she is 9 months) and when she is cranky I can pop her in her wrap and off to sleep she will go

I don’t yet have a baby, but we’ve been trying for nearly 3 years, so any dreams of holding a baby in that sling at all would be the most wonderful dreams come true ever!

I had a mayawrap with my little one. I remember the first time I was finally able to have him in the sling and nurse him…while we were shopping at the mall! I felt like I had really accomplished something. Big fan of the sling.
Can’t wait to see who wins.

I don’t have one of these yet, so I don’t have any happy memories to share, but we have grandbabies on the way, and some already here. So my antipation of happy moments will be when I get to have the babies over and I carry them in my beautiful sling that I won on this really cool blog in the great spring giveaway, and when they get older, I’ll tell them all about it. And then I’ll get them hooked on blogging, and teach them to design sites so they can make money at home, oh wait. That’s my fantasy, not theirs. Hee hee. I just got a little carried away, that’s all.

My favorite moment wearing a sling is how a newborn baby in a sling still makes you feel pregnant. I can feel a knee or an elbow and it kinda feels like rubbing a pregnant belly.

GREAT gift! Oh, I hope I win. I’ve been searching for a good ring sling to move to after using my New Native Carrier for the past 7 months. My favorite sling memory…it would have to be just the feeling of my 7 month old sleeping in his sling the other day. He doesn’t snuggle with me much anymore because he’s so busy…that moment of peace with him was precious
